Element Healing Natural Healing Arts Class Descriptions

Gentle Yoga with Claire McCarty
This basic level class moves at a gentle pace, using chairs and props to accommodate personal needs when necessary. Gentle Yoga is ideal for older adults, those recovering from illness or injury, and anyone seeking a less physical class that still has the joy of breathing, moving, relaxing and quieting the mind. Also appropriate for students that are new to yoga.

Open Level Vinyasa Yoga with Flannery Houston
This well rounded class is designed to challenge all ages and levels. Class begins with a short period of meditation and restorative postures, then moves on to poses that are maintained for a moderate period of time to build strength and endurance, while focusing the mind. From here we move through a flow of asanas designed to connect us with our breath and invigorate our body. This class offers modifications for those new to yoga and challenging variations for the more advanced student.

Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga with Marissa Nielsen-Pincus
This slow flow Vinyasa class will take you deeper into a supportive yoga practice allowing your body to let go of old holding patterns, opening up new possibilities for strength and balance. You will explore how your muscles, connective tissue, joints, and organs actively support you and help you move. This class is both physically challenging but also restorative, with space for students to move at their own pace. Open to all levels.

Prenatal Yoga with Adele Loux-Turner
The changing female body is honored and guided through a gentle and fluid practice developing strength and energy, releasing tension and allowing deep relaxation. Classes are a blend of movement, breath, relaxation, meditation and visualization all of which help prepare you for labor and birth. Practicing yoga can alleviate common discomforts felt during pregnancy such as varicosities, swelling, hip pain, cramps, and low back pain. Prenatal yoga brings better sleep and digestion, connection to your developing baby, and a sense of feeling inwardly centered.

Morning Awakening: GYROKINESIS® with Alexandra Berger
This morning class focuses on "Awakening of the Senses", a series within GYROKINESIS®. Using breathwork, spinal movements, and self-massage techniques, this practice brings awareness to the entire body. The sequence helps to heat up the core and activate the nerve endings, delivering the energy needed to start the day focused and invigorated.

GYROKINESIS® with Alexandra Berger
Come explore the possibilities for movement in your own body. Certified Gyrokinesis instructor, Alexandra Berger, will take you through the natural movements of the spine and joints that bring the body into its fullest movement potential, developed by Julie Horvath. Gyrokinesis is a system for every body, using gentle, fluid motions to awaken all of the senses and give one a more expansive sense of self.

Community Based with Caroline Ferran
This class introduces basic postures and alignment principles for those new to yoga, just returning to classes, or those looking to strengthen the basis of their practice. We focus on establishing a foundation of healthy alignment by gradually entering into basic postures while recognizing and exploring our breath and mind in each pose. The class then builds to sequencing poses designed to stretch and strengthen the body, while calming and focusing the mind. Basic meditation, breath work (pranayama) and mindfulness techniques are introduced and incorporated into every class.

Postpartum Yoga with Adele Loux-Turner
This class is for women who want to address issues that are common in the postpartum body. Emphasis will be placed on rebuilding the strength of the abdomen and pelvic floor and on mobilizing and opening the shoulders. This work is particularly beneficial for women in their first year after childbirth, but mothers of any age are encouraged to join.

Yoga and Meditation with Claire Larsen
This weekly class, open to students of all levels, is centered around building the foundations of a meditation and mindfulness practice. We define mindfulness as a practice that allows us to bring the focus, awareness and calmness we experience in meditation to our everyday life experiences. Alternating between seated meditation and a gentle yoga asana practice, this class is designed to allow students to enter into a meditation practice without the anxiety and discomforts that often arise in traditional seated positions. The simple techniques introduced in this class will provide an opportunity for all students to deepen their practice and to view the body as a resting place for the mind.

Parent and Baby Yoga with Adele Loux-Turner
A yoga class for parents and care givers with babies 6 weeks old to crawling. This class provides a relaxing space where you can reconnect to your body and breath while nurturing your connection with your baby. The class is designed specifically to help build core stability and improve posture in a gentle yet effective way as well as address other body aches and pains of a new parent or care giver. Learn baby massage techniques, change and feed your baby as needed and interact with your baby in the centering, compassionate space that yoga creates.

Hatha Yoga with Barb Golub
Using therapeutic alignment principles, with deep care and personal attention, Barb will teach you to build strength and flexibility that will stay with you on and off the mat. Join Barb to smile, engage and cultivate the deepest intentions you can for yourself. This class is appropriate for all levels and each class will end with a meditation.
