As a practitioner in wellness and a small business owner, I make it a point to visit as many spas and centers as possible, across the fifty states and all over the world including China, Thailand, Bali, Central and South America, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and Italy to name some of the highlights.
August is the height of the herb harvest. So relish the abundance of herbs in your containers or your garden! Of course, harvesting frequently all summer can encourage plants to produce new growth. It’s okay to prune a perennial to about half its height. You can cut back an annual even more — to just a few inches. Many culinary herbs, including chives, basil, mint, parsley, and oregano grow back quickly and benefit from the constant pruning.
I love so many aspects of Brazil, including the weather, the people, and the deliciousness of acai! My daughter Trula and I look forward to our daily acai smoothies with white crunchy tapioca sprinkled on top almost as much as we do our other incredible adventures in Brazil.
Now that August is upon us, full-blown vacation season is here. Vacations can bring relaxation and serenity, adventure and new perspectives, and a break from the rigors of daily life. They can also bring pressures from the inevitable missed flights and inexplicable delays and lost luggage and bad food that come during a time we are trying to ditch all our mundane problems and have photo-op worthy escapes.
