CBD Clinic is a popular product line that we carry here at Element NHA. This company carries 5 different strengths of CBD topical creams that are great for pain and inflammation. I, personally, have found these topical CBD options beneficial for many of my patients’ pain conditions. Hemp- derived CBD contains .3% or less of THC and is currently legal in most of the country except Idaho, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
Just to be clear: CBD topical creams do not enter the blood stream and only work locally where the CBD is applied. CBD is not psychoactive and cannot make a person “high.” Since the CBD in the creams doesn’t enter the bloodstream, it binds at the application site with receptors in the skin to encourage an anti-inflammatory response, which provides pain relief. Creams are effective topically with a lower dosage of CBD since CB1 and CB2 receptors are located throughout the skin. CB1 and CB2 receptors are what CBD binds to, to carry out anti-inflammatory, regulatory, and homeostasis in the body leading to less pain, less inflammation, and more balance.
CBD Clinic offers 5 different levels of topical formulations. All of the base ointments and creams in this product line are made with natural emollients; these include organic beeswax, jojoba seed oil, cotton seed oil, and shea butter. These emollients soften the top layer of the skin. Shea butter is also a moisturizer, penetrating a little deeper. Together these ingredients help the CBD bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors located in the skin.
It’s important to rub in a liberal amount of cream into the area, until it is absorb for most effective CBD binding.
Here’s the range of products in our CBD Clinic 1-5 line:
CBD Clinic 1 Mild to Moderate Pain Relief
Contains 25mg of hemp oil and lidocaine.
Lidocaine is a topical anesthetic. It temporarily blocks the pathway of pain signals in the nerve to where it is applied topically, blocking the pain signal to be sent to the brain. Lidocaine in conjunction with a low dose CBD is good for mild pain therapy. Other ingredients: beeswax (organic), cotton seed oil, emulsifying wax, hemp extract, jojoba seed oil, purified water, shea butter, sorbic acid.
CBD Clinic 2 Mild to Moderate Pain Relief
Contains 50mg of hemp oil extract, camphor, and arnica extract.
Camphor is an analgesic that helps to increase circulation and decrease pain. Camphor is considered a counterirritant. Counterirritants work by first giving the skin a sensation of coolness and then heat thereby distracting the brain from receiving actual deeper pain signals. Arnica has been used for centuries as a natural pain reliever. It is commonly used for muscular aches and pains as well as for bruising. CBD Clinic 2 is good for mild to moderate pain therapy.
Other ingredients: beeswax (organic), clove oil, cotton seed oil, emulsifying wax, eucalyptus oil, hemp extract, jojoba seed oil, peppermint oil, purified water, shea butter, sorbic acid, tea tree oil. Clove, eucalyptus, peppermint, and tea tree oil are also known for their pain reducing and anti-inflammatory properties.
CBD Clinic 3 Moderate Muscle and Joint Pain Relief
Contains 75mg hemp oil extract and menthol.
Menthol is another counterirritant that acts as an analgesic. It produces a cooling sensation followed by a warm sensation disrupting the brain’s ability to sense deeper rooted pain. This formulation has the same base formulation as CBD Clinic 2 containing clove, eucalyptus, peppermint, and tea tree oil. CBD Clinic 3 is a good formulation for moderate pain.
CBD Clinic 4 Deep Muscle and Joint Pain Relief
Contains 100mg of hemp oil extract along with camphor, menthol, and the same base formulation as those listed above, including the essential oils in CBD 2 and 3. Clinic 4 is great for moderate to more intense pain conditions.
CBD Clinic 5 Pro Sport Deep Muscle and Joint Pain
Contains 100mg of hemp oil extract with menthol, camphor, and the same base formula as CBD Clinic 2, 3, and 4.
This contains the highest amount of hemp oil extract, making it a great formulation for athletes. It is often used for joint, nerve, low back, shoulder, and neck pain and can help increase flexibility because the increased amount of CBD encourages more anti-inflammatory responses. This is an ideal pre- and post-workout option to help speed recovery of fatigued and painful muscles and joints.
CBD topical creams can be safely used for pain and can help decrease inflammation, allowing for better circulation and range of motion. These creams can also be used before and after exercise, before bedtime, and in conjunction with massage, acupuncture, and other bodywork treatments.
