Taking time to care for yourself is an important aspect of health. It’s a truism that you must take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else. Let’s take it to heart! If you’re falling apart, how can you help anyone else?
Getting enough rest, eating healthily, and exercising is crucial to good health. It’s also important to take time everyday to appreciate your body and all it does. Meditation is one way of quieting the mind and learning how to be fully in your body. I like the practice of focusing love and appreciation on your body when moisturizing after a shower. It doesn’t have to take long, just be intentional and aware. As you apply the lotion or oil, spend more time on the areas of yourself that you tend to criticize the most. This kind of regular practice can transform the connection to your body.
The more you feel connected to your body, the more likely you will be to take care of it. In this season of renewal and rebirth, let’s all give it a try.
