Amanda is a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist (graduate from the Swedish Institute in NY), Therapeutic Yoga Specialist and Movement Specialist. She is also a certified running coach with the Road Runners Club of America. She has currently ran 8 New York City Marathons. As an endurance runner, Amanda has experienced the benefits of bodywork and body awareness and the effect each has on optimal performance and recovery.
While her massage styles and techniques range from individual to individual, her specialty is a combination targeted sports massage and performance yoga for active individuals, recovering athletes, and individuals experiencing high levels of stress. This combination can allow for a quicker recovery and more intense training. Her focus is simple: heal the body and mind to perform your best.
Amanda started practicing yoga in 2003, using it as a parallel treatment to physical therapy when recovering from several running injuries. Yoga became an essential element of her recovery—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Amanda completed her 200-hour yoga certification in 2012. Since then, she completed over 1,000 teaching hours making her an experienced yoga teacher registered with the Yoga Alliance. Currently, Amanda is studying and pursuing a 900+ hour Yoga Therapy certification with Prema Yoga Institute’s Yoga Therapy degree program.
In 2017, Amanda graduated from the internationally renowned Gray Institute of Functional Transformation as a Fellow of Applied Function Science (FAFS) making her a budding specialist in the world of biomechanics and movement science for athletes. She is also certified in Functional Manual Reaction (FMR) through the Gray Institute. This powerful application helps to assess movement and functional mobility allowing people to move properly while enjoying the activities and sports they love.
